Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Natural and Man-made Disasters in the Eastern Partnership Countries

EU-funded Flagship Initiative increasing disaster risk management capacities in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

The PPRD East 2 Programme developed a short video to promote professionalism in Civil Protection (CP) Volunteerism in the Partner Countries. The video is conceptualised as Public Service Announcement (PSA) in a form of 2D animation with a clear message: a trained volunteer is more efficient than a spontaneous gesture of help. In many countries, including EU Member States, spontaneous volunteerism  can be dangerous. It creates additional burden and puts extra stress on the professional civil protection response teams because the spontaneous volunteers are not trained, equipped or insured. The video promotes the CP Volunteerism and motivate the population to become CP volunteers, and in the same time demotivate the population to do so called “spontaneous volunteerism”.

The video is developed in English, Russian and all national languages of the Programme’s Partner Countries, and will be disseminated by the key-beneficiaries through national and local channels.
