Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Natural and Man-made Disasters in the Eastern Partnership Countries

EU-funded Flagship Initiative increasing disaster risk management capacities in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

On 23-27 April 2018, the National Protection and Rescue Directorate of the Republic of Croatia hosted the study visit of the representatives of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova.

The objective of the study visit, organised within the PPRD East 2 Programme, was to share experience and expertise in developing and setting-up national Disaster Risk Assessment (DRA) system identifying DRA roles and responsibilities, drafting DRA methodology, and conducting and utilizing the results of the national-level disaster risk assessment. In other words, colleagues from Moldova learnt which organization was in the lead and responsible for the entire process, what was the legal basis for starting the DRA process, how many institutions and organisations were involved, what were the key challenges, what are the lessons learned, and much more.

The participants of the Study visit were three Moldovan experts, members of the national inter-institutional DRA working group established in Moldova within the auspices of the PPRD East 2 Programme.
