This third issue of our newsletter focuses on the results the PPRD East 2 Flagship Initiative has achieved at mid-term of its implementation. We have decided to cross-interview the manager of the Programme, Mr Jean-François Moret, and the Steering Committee members of each of the six PPRD East 2 Partner Countries: this way, we propose a wide overview of where the project stands today, but as well opinions, comments and suggestions on how we could make together the best possible use of the remaining time and resources before the Programme ends in November 2018.
Mr Ghenadie Barbu from Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service of the Republic of Moldova and Mr Steven Daniels from EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova addressed key aspect of the full-scale field exercise EU MOLDEX 2017 during the press conference conducted at the second day of the 2nd Planning Conference.
An important part of the Programme deals with the strengthening of civil protection capacities of the Partner Countries. For that purpose, a series of training courses and table-top exercises were arranged during 2015-2017 and the final test of the programme is the conduct of a full-scale field exercise, named EU MOLDEX 2017, in September 2017 near Chisinau, Moldova.
The Second Planning Conference for the Full Scale Field Exercise was held in Moldova on 14-15 June 2017. At this conference, the final exercise schedule was completed and all arrangements were agreed for participants, evaluators, observers, and VIP visitors.
