Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Natural and Man-made Disasters in the Eastern Partnership Countries

EU-funded Flagship Initiative increasing disaster risk management capacities in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

Within the planned Civil Protection Training Programme, two Operational Management Training courses (OPM 1 and OPM 2) were conducted at the Danish Emergency Management Staff College in Snekkersten (close to Elsinore), Denmark. The first course took place from 01 to 06 May, 2016, and the second course took place from 26 June to 01 July, 2016. The courses were reserved for participants who had successfully completed the Basic Training Courses. Each Partner Country was invited to nominate four participants for each of the two courses. The courses were conducted in English, but interpretation into Russian was provided.

The curriculum of the training courses was a continuation of the curriculum covered in the Basic Training Courses, but with more emphasis on participation in international coordination of disaster assistance. Participants were trained in arrangements of host nation support and information management, as well as relationships with the Red Cross/Red Crescent movement and the roles of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).
