Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Natural and Man-made Disasters in the Eastern Partnership Countries

EU-funded Flagship Initiative increasing disaster risk management capacities in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

Starting in April, 2016, two Advanced Training Courses (ADT) are being arranged as the final stage of the Civil Protection Training Programme within PPRD East 2. The courses are held at the Crisis Management Centre in Kuopio, Finland.

The first course took place from 17 to 22 April 2016 and was reserved for participants who had successfully completed both BAT and OPM courses during Phase 1 of the PPRD East Programme. The second ADT course, scheduled for May 2017, will be for participants of the Phase 2 BAT and OPM courses. These high level courses aim to bring a full understanding of the different roles of international organisations involved in coordination of disaster relief operations (EU, UN, Red Cross/Crescent, NATO, etc.) and provide simulation exercises on negotiations, situation briefings and coordination. The courses also include training in media relations with a professional journalist.

As the courses are designed for persons who will be dealing with international disaster relief coordination, it is a requirement that participants can communicate in English. No interpretation is provided.
