Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Natural and Man-made Disasters in the Eastern Partnership Countries

EU-funded Flagship Initiative increasing disaster risk management capacities in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

An initial meeting of the “Core Team” took place in the premises of the PPRD East 2 Programme in Kyiv, Ukraine, on 8 – 10 December 2014. The Core Team consisted of (from left to right) MWH Programme Manager Aïda Yassine, Capacity Building Key Expert Dusan Zupka (latIMG_1174er replaced by Antonín Petr), Civil Protection Key Expert Michael Elmquist, and Team Leader Sergej Anagnosti. The Core Team laso met with representatives of the Consortium Partners (Danish Emergency Management Agency – DEMA, and the Finnish Crisis Management Centre – CMC). Finally, the team met with the EU Programme Manager, Mr Jean-François Moret of the European External Action Service, Kyiv.

The initial Core Team Meeting in Kyiv was followed-up by a meeting in Brussels where the team met with representatives of DG ECHO, Mr Hans Das, Mr Roberto Schiliro, Mr Per Øyvind Semb, and Ms Marieta Koleva. The meeting discussed implementation of the PPRD East 2 Programme as an integral and important part of the EU strategy for relations with the Eastern neighbourhood. The meeting also discussed issues relating to the Exchange of Experts Programme, and the relationship with the EU funded field exercises for the Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
